Over 92 Million Tons of Textiles End Up in Landfills Every Year
The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to global waste, with millions of tons of clothing discarded annually. This year alone, textile waste is expected to rise dramatically, further polluting our planet. But together, we can make a change.
That’s why Sewing Lab, local businesses, and nonprofits are coming together to build a community-driven solution: Don't Shop, Swap Movement. By swapping instead of shopping, we extend the life of garments, reduce waste, and take an active role in the circular economy—where nothing goes to waste, and everything finds a new purpose.
What Happens to Leftover Items?
Any unclaimed clothing from our swaps doesn’t go to waste. Sewing Lab repurposes some items for school sewing projects, and the rest is donated to various nonprofits supporting their communities. Through this, we ensure that every piece continues to serve a purpose, whether as new creations or to help those in need.
Join us in making fashion more sustainable—one swap at a time. Let’s build a community that cares, swaps, and reduces waste together. Check out our upcoming swaps and get involved!
